Sébastien Béranger

Sebastien Beranger, born in 1977, studied music in Reims and Lille, and later in the composition class of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP) where he studied with Emmanuel Nunes, Michaël Levinas et Luis Naón. There the composer obtained the analysis and composition prizes, a program in new technologies applied to composition. At the same time, Sebastien Béranger obtained a master’s degree in esthetics and arts science from the University of Lille III and a doctorate in musicology from the University of Nice. Passionate about new computer technologies and their relation with instrumental composition, he won first prize at the Fondation Internationale Lili et Nadia Boulanger for the year of 2001-2002. His music has received awards in several festivals and competitions: Prima Europa (Italy), Ton Bruynel 2003 (the Netherlands), Concurso Internacional de Miniaturas Electroacústicas (Spain), Forum International des Jeunes Compositeurs de l’ensemble Aleph, Forum International du Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, etc. In 2006, Sebastien Béranger obtained the musical composition scholarship from Beaux-Arts (Institut de France). His music has been played by Christophe Desjardins, by the ensemble Accroche Note, Alter Ego, Aleph, 2e2m, l’Itinéraire, l’Ensemble Intercontemporain, le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.
