Deon Nielsen Price, Doctor of Musical Arts, composer, pianist, recording artist, published author and veteran educator, serves on the Board of the National Association of Composers/USA as President Emeritus and is former president of the International Alliance for Women in Music. Dr. Price has taught on the music faculties at the University of Southern California, California State University Northridge, El Camino and Los Angeles Harbor Colleges, and has been many times a Visiting Artist/Composer/Lecturer at universities including California at Santa Barbara, Brigham Young, Idaho, Northern Iowa, West Virginia, Panama, Beijing Normal, China Renmin, Chinese University of Hong Kong and others. Invited by the Chinese Woman Composer’s Association in 2011 to perform her work for two pianos and violin at the China National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and again in 2012 to perform her work for 2-pianos and clarinet in Hong Kong City Theatre, she was supported by grants for multi-cultural chamber music performance by the Mu Phi Epsilon International Foundation. Her work “Yellow Jade Banquet” for clarinets and orchestra was premiered in 2008 at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing by the China National Symphony Orchestra and was recorded in Kiev by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
