Sheli Nan is a contemporary composer and considers herself neo-melodic. Many of her works are published. Her influences run from Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland to JSBach and African music. She has performed with salsa bands, she has composed symphonies, string quartets and chamber music; she has performed with African bands, solo original jazz piano and harpsichord, and she composes and performs original music for baroque instruments. She has written a book , "The Essential Piano Teacher's Guide" and has a HIP studio in Berkeley, Ca. HIP stands for historically informed performance. etc. She has been invited all over the Spanish speaking world to perform, notably Spain and Cuba (from the Government of Cuba) and has written extensively on her experiences.
