Composer Maria Molinari is based in Toronto, Canada where she composes music for film and television. She received her training in the post-graduate film scoring program at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles under renowned composers Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Rosenman, David Raksin and Christopher Young. Maria has worked in Los Angeles and London, England and is a citizen of the European Union.
Maria’s projects have spanned the genres of drama, horror, animation, silent films, documentaries, sci-fi and comedy series television.
Her credits include the animated series Freaky Stories, independent films All that is Hidden and Communication Breakdown (starring Little Mosque on the Prairie’s Stephen Lobo), and original scores for the classic silent films The Pawn Shop (Charlie Chaplin) and Mighty Like a Moose (Charley Chase). She has contributed additional music to projects including sci-fi series Mutant X, documentaries Is it Art? and China Rises, and the CBC comedy series Getting Along Famously (starring Colin Mochrie and Debra McGrath) for Q Music. She also served as orchestrator on the feature film The Marsh starring Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker.
Although primarily devoted to working in media composition, Maria has composed for dance and the concert stage. Her works have been premiered by artists including acclaimed violinist Moshe Hammer, the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and National Ballet of Canada dancer/choreographer Stephanie Hutchison.
