Vlastislav Matoušek (born 1948), Associate Professor (docent), Ph.D. studied Composition and Musical Theory at HAMU and Charles University´s Institute of Musicology in Prague where he has been teaching ethnomusicology and other music-theoretical subjects since 1991 (HAMU), since 1999 also at Institute of Musicology.
In his research he is concerned with the music of extra-European cultures, exotic and folk musical instruments, rhythm and musical language.
As a fellow of Japan Foundation he studied with Kifu Mitsuhashi in Japan (1996) shakuhachi bamboo flute which he plays as a concert performer and with his Ensemble 108 Hz presents experimental art-music and his own compositions.
