Feliz Anne R. Macahis (b.1987) is a Philippine-born composer of chamber, orchestral and choral music which were performed in U.S.A., France, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
She graduated Magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines and is finishing her Master’s degree in Music under a full Master’s Assistantship at University of Memphis. Her teachers include Kamran Ince, Jonas Baes, and Josefino Toledo.
Her fascination with heavenly bodies and how they exhibit themselves against darkness shapes the aesthetic of her compositional work. She utilizes Asian as well as Western instruments in her composition.
Ms. Macahis’ music has been performed by the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble, Ensemble Selisih, University of Memphis Contemporary Chamber Players, Luna Nova, TICF Trio, Metro Manila Community Orchestra, Auit Vocal Chamber Ensemble, the Manila Chamber Singers. Her works were also featured in new music events including the Manila Composers Lab, Etchings Festival, Yogyakarta Contemporary Music Festival, Duong Dai Festival, Music Underkonstruction, and Asian Composers’ League Contemporary Music Festival. Moreover, her works were presented in master classes given by Stefano Gervasoni, Lee Hyla, Joao Pedro Oliveira, Zhou Long, Robert Beaser, and Joseph Schwantner.
