Chris Jentsch is a recording and performing artist working primarily in jazz and contemporary improvisational forms. Based in Brooklyn since 1999, his main ensemble is Jentsch Group in its trio, quartet, chamber, or large configuration. Jentsch is a composer of jazz and concert music having been awarded grants/commissions from Meet The Composer, the Composers Assistance Program of the American Music Center (CAP/AMC)(2), American Composers Forum (ACF)(2), New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), Ucross Foundation, Brooklyn Conservatory, and others. His fourth CD Cycles Suite (for large jazz ensemble) was released in 2009 on Fleur De Son Records. Jentsch holds various liberal arts and jazz guitar degrees from Gettysburg College, New England Conservatory, and the Eastman School of Music, as well as the terminal degree in Jazz Composition from the University of Miami. Dr. Jentsch is published by the University of Northern Colorado Press and Advance Music. A new jazz quartet CD (Fractured Pop) is in the final stages of production.
