James Nathaniel Holland is originally from Indiana. After musical studies that spanned the globe (DePauw University, Vienna Austria, and Indiana University in Bloomington) he became New York-based for 13 years before settling in Costa Rica.
Holland began composing music when he was 10 years of age, and since then his music has grown by sheer perseverance, optimism, and hard work with little major recognition, as of yet. Reaching mid-life, he has authored of many works for full-length operas, instrumental chamber music, choral and vocal music, and is now building a repetoire of larger pieces for orchestra.
As a performer, Holland is a classically-trained, professional opera tenor and an accomplished pianist. His concerts can be found in the local venues of Costa Rica.
