Born 1995 in Graz, Austria. From a young age he received his first vocal training and gathered musical experience as a soloist in various opera houses throughout Austria. Continuous contact to this musical milieu led him to write his first composition- an opera. Premiere of „Die Frittatensuppe“ under his direction in 2008 followed by a rerun later on in a revised version. In 2009, he received the 3rd prize at the International Composition Competition in Siegburg, Germany. Finalist with his String Quartet at the Composition Competition of the Austrian Composers’ Society in 2010. Since 2006 he studies Piano with Mag. Maria Zgubic and, as of 2012, Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. Commissions from the International Festival of Chamber Music Raumberg, Austria, the Festival for Modern Art “Regionale10”, the Styrian Youth Choir “CantAnima”, the Graz Boys Choir, and the “Styrian Tone Arts Association”.
Patrick Hahn spent the school year 2011/12 as an exchange student in Apple Valley, Minnesota (USA). Commissions and world premieres under his baton with the local Wind Ensemble (“Ameraustrica”) and Concert Choir (“When You Are Old”) brought him recognition in America and important international experience. Significant contact with Jazz music and musicians earned him experience and Solo Awards in Jazz Piano at Jazz Festivals including La Cross/ Wisconsin, and Chicago/ Illinois.
During the season 2013-2014, “Ameraustrica” is a compulsory piece of the “Austrian Wind Band Association” within the category D (difficult).
Patrick Hahn is member of the “Austrian Composers’ Society”, the “Styrian Tone Arts Association”, and since 2011 musical director of the Church Choir in Laßnitzhöhe, Austria.
