Born in Bogota, Colombia, based in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) since 2001. In 2006 he earned a PhD in Composition and Theory from the University of Pittsburgh, and shortly afterwards co-founded Alia Musica Pittsburgh, of which he is principal conductor and Artistic Director. He has been a participant composer at the Cabrillo Festival of New Music (Santa Cruz, CA, 2009) and Music10 in Blonay, Switzerland (2010). His pieces have been performed to date in Colombia, Argentina, Germany, the United States, and Thailand. Several honors include first prize in the 2001 Colombian Composition Competition, for his "Passacaglia on a theme by Bach", for symphony orchestra.
