The composer/conductor Roland Freisitzer was born 1973 in Vienna. Studies in Moscow with Alfred Schnittke and Edison Denisov, as well as in Baku with Faradj Karaev. 1994 – 1999 principal conductor and artistic director of “The Moscow Orchestra”. Co-founder (together with Thomas Heinisch and Alexander Wagendristel) and conductor of the “ensemble reconsil”. Performances of his works by ensembles and musicians, such as “Ensemble Die Reihe”, “ensemble reconsil”, GAGEEGO!, KammarensembleN, IXION Ensemble, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Studio for New Music Moscow, Triple Tongue, Robert Aitken and Peter Keuschnig. In 2007, ORF CD label issued a portrait CD (ZeitTon Portrait CD 480). In 2009 he received the Austrian State grant for composers for the work on his opera “About the impossibility of inhabiting the paradise” (based on the novel by A. P. Schlöglmeier) and the Förderpreis of the Austrian Republic for his “Dies Irae”.
