Antonio Zimmerman was born in Buenos Aires in 1971. He pursued his Degree in Musical Composition at the Universidad Católica Argentina under the tuition of Masters such as Caamaño, Lambertini, Gandini, Cetta. He also took courses in Choral conducting with G. Opitz. In 1997 Antonio graduated cum laude in Musical Studies with a specialization in Composition in 1997. From 1997 until 2002 he was a member of Séptima Práctica, a contemporary music ensemble, as a composer, producer and interpreter. Antonio has participated in courses, workshops and seminars in Argentina, France and Austria under the guidance of Donatoni, Ferneyhough, Hosokawa and other prominent contemporary composers. His works have been premiered and performed in Argentina, Germany, Austria, Spain, USA, France and Russia by Séptima Práctica, Ensamble Ictus, Het Trio, Compañía Oblicua, Moscow Contemporary Ensemble, Trío Luminar, Irvine Arditti, Bugallo-Williams among other musical ensembles. Antonio has created music for theatre, dance, video performances and movies. In 2007 his Opera Clone, based on a story by Julio Cortázar, was premiered at the Teatro Colon’s CETC. He teaches courses in Composition and Contemporary Techniques both at the Universidad Católica Argentina and the CEAMC (Centre for Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music).
