Jorge is part of the generation of mexican composers born in the late sixties and early seventies, who departed from the nationalistic and avant-garde tendencies of the mid-twentieth century, in order to find their own voices and identities.
Through his music, Jorge tries to integrate the stylistic variety that comprises the rich esthetic heritage of the twentieth century, into a personal language. Working with seemingly esthetic opposites, such as the tonal tradition and the atonal legacy, he seeks to find the common thread running between them, and meld them into a unique style.
Far removed from inflexible or dogmatic schools, he is interested in maintaining a welcoming spirit, open to the infinite influences that shape the musical fabric of today.
