Kyle D. Vanderburg

Kyle Vanderburg (b. 1986) is a composer of eclectically polystylistic music fueled by rhythmic drive and melodic infatuation. His recent composer residency with the Oklahoma Composers Association in 2010 produced “Unknown Precipitation” for percussion ensemble. His works appear in any number of different genres, from chamber works to large choral and orchestral concoctions. He was previously the assistant conductor and ensembles manager of instrumental ensembles at Drury University.
Kyle holds affiliations with ASCAP, the American Composers Forum, the Society of Composers Incorporated, the Oklahoma Composers Association, the National Association of Composers/USA, Mortar Board, and Omicron Delta Kappa. Additionally, he was asked to write the program notes for the Springfield Symphony's 2008-2009 season, and was honored in 2009 for his contribution to the Drury University Wind Ensemble.
Kyle has studied composition with Marvin Lamb and Carlyle Sharpe, improvised composition with Marc Jensen, and has participated in composition masterclasses with David Maslanka, Chris Brubeck, and Eric V. Hachikian. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Music Composition and Theory from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and is pursuing a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Oklahoma.
