S. Patric Simmerud was born on October 13, 1963, in Stockholm. He has studied at the Kapellsberg Music School in Härnösand and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, as well as at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris and Fondazione Accademia Chigiana (Siena, Italy). A list of his teachers includes Olov Franzén, Peter Lyne, Anders Nilsson, Lars-Erik Rosell, Lars Ekström, Daniel Börtz, Sven-David Sandström, Magnus Lindberg, Pär Lindgren, Bill Brunson, Jaques Charpentier (Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris) and Ennio Morricone (Fondazione Accademia Chigiana, Siena). He is currently a freelance composer.

Notable in his production, which includes solo works, orchestral pieces and electroacoustic works, are "Il dolce far niente" for solo piano (1993); "AN" for wind ensemble (1994); "Frameworks" for sinfonietta (1997); "Fluctuations" for orchestra (1998); "Roma" for vibraphone, marimba and tape (1998); "Villes englouties" for baritone and orchestra, with texts by Shakespeare (2000); "De-housing" for saxophone quartet (2001); "Soon - Kilroy, go home" for percussion trio (2005) and "De ljudlösa" for 8-part mixed choir a cappella (2005).

Since 1993, S. Patric Simmerud has taken part in contemporary music festivals in Europe as well as in USA, and his works has been performed in concert halls all over the world.

Among the better known ensembles Simmerud has worked with are the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm Saxophone Quartet, the Chamber Ensemble Sonanza, Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Stockholm Transport Band, the Emory Wind Ensemble (Atlanta, Ga, USA), The Peärls Before Swïne Experience, Hässlö Saxophone Quartet, The North/South Consonance Ensemble (New York), Zagreb Saxophone Quartet (Croatia), The Raschèr Saxophone Quartet (USA), Ensemble Theater am Gleis (Switzerland), Sångsällskapet Orphei Drängar [OD], Trio Tribukait/Pettersson/Berg, Trio Spectra and the worlds most talented percussionist Mika Takehara.
