Julia Schwartz was born in Columbus, Ohio, USA in 1963. She received early musical training from her parents, both professional musicians. After graduating from the Oberlin College Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in voice she continued her studies in voice and music theory in Munich and Zurich.
Julia Schwartz's compositional activity includes writing instrumental and vocal chamber music. She also develops, composes and realizes electronic colleges for concert performance and experimental theater. A classically trained soprano, she performs contemporary music and gives chanson evenings. She teaches voice privately and lives in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.
