Kurt Rohde is a composer and violist who lives in San Francisco. His music has been performed by Southwest Chamber Music, the Scharoun Ensemble, Sequitur, the Berkeley Symphony, and pianist Genevieve Lee. Mr. Rohde has received the Rome Prize, the Berlin Prize, a Fromm, Koussevitzsky, Hanson, and Barlow commission awards, and awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Originally from New York, he attended the Peabody Conservatory, Curtis Institute of Music, and SUNY Stony Brook. He is a member of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble and the New Century Chamber Orchestra, co-director of the Empyrean Ensemble, and Associate Professor of Music Composition at the University of California at Davis. His music is published by Ripley Dog Face Music.
