Born in Viña del Mar (CHILE) the 21th August 1951, began his musical studies in 1971 at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. In 1975 he becames to be a pupil of Cirilo Vila, first privately and then in the Composition Class at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile.
His creative work began in 1977 being made of differents instrumentals and vocals pieces, chamber and symphonic music, alot of these have been performed in Chile, Europe and the United States. Moreover, someones have received differents awards and prizes in Composition's Competitions realized in Chile and Italy. In 1998 publish his first CD with chamber works composed during 1979 and 1996.
During 1984 and 1985, he was awarded with two scholarschips of Italian Goverment and makes compositions studies by Franco Donatoni (Rome and Siena) and by Giacomo Manzoni (Milano).
Alejandro Guarello had developed a great activity as director of contemporary music. In 1986, he organized and directed the contemporary music composition and performance Workshop at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Since 1982 he became jury in most importants composition's competitions organized in Chile.

Actually, he is composition teacher of differents courses and person in charge of the Project: "Musica Abierta, un Espacio para la Música Contemporánea" in the Music Institute of tha Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Moreover, he is Director of Resonancias, publication of the same institute and Person in Charge of the Contemporary Chilean Music Festivals organized yearly by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
