Gerardo began his musical studies in classical guitar in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela before moving to the United States to pursue studies in composition. In 1998, Gerardo received a BA in Film Scoring and Music Composition at the Berklee College of Music followed by a Master of Music in Composition from Yale in 2001. At Yale, Gerardo was a student of Ezra Laderman and Joseph Schwantner in addition of pursuing musical studies with David Del Tredici and Alvin Singleton. Currently, Gerardo lives in Los Angeles, where he is an active film composer; orchestraor and music producer, his works for Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble and Electronics have been performed in music halls across the United States, as well as in Venezuela, Taiwan and Italy. Recent film credits include Seven Pounds (orchestraor, conductor), The Duel, Satanas (orchestrator), The Intruders, Chamaco (additional music) and Monica, Thoughts, Mind The Gap, Red Monday (composer).
