Jan LEONTSKy, composer was born in 1970 in Privas, south of France. His first Master, abbot Maurice Delehedde
himself pupil of famous pianist Samson Francois) taught him the piano, the organ and the basis of harmony and composition. Leontsky studied in his native musical school and after with conservatory professor Francois Piguet-Ruinet (Counterpoint, Harmony and Fugue). He's playing as organist from the age of 15 years at the St Thomas church of his native city. He's performed many organ & piano concerts.
He composed many pieces and did arrangements for Trumpet & Organ, playing in duetto in various churches. He began working on his first piano album late 1989. His complete work contains now 26 albums, mainly composed for the piano.
Jan Leontsky wrote several cd methods and many books - about Chopin, Bach, literature and piccolo trumpet (an instrument that he likes particularly). He also did over 600 revisions/transcriptions for the organ, the piano and the trumpet. All these works are published by the Tarnhelm Editions. Jan Leontsky's music takes its roots in the tradition of tonal music. From gregorian monody to Georges Delerue, the composer makes a synthesis of the various styles of this tradition. For Leontsky, music has a spiritual dimension which is definitely the angle stone of his work. The composer lives now in Odessa, by the Black sea.
