After classical studies, he has studied Harmony and Counterpoint under the guide of Giancarlo Facchinetti at the Music Conservatory in Brescia and then graduated in Composition at the Parma Conservatory under the guide of the composer and teacher Antonio Giacometti. He also graduated in Jazz at the Brescia Conservatory under the guide of Marcello Tonolo, Attilio Zanchi, Roberto Bonati and Corrado Guarino. He has been selected to attend seminars and masterclasses given by Franco Donatoni, György Ligeti, James MacMillan. In Jan 2000 he met in Amsterdam Louis Andriessen, determinative for his musical growth; and in May of the same year he won the 2nd prize in the International Contest of Composition “2 Agosto” in Bologna with the piece UMORE for sax soprano and orchestra, performed by Claude Delangle with the Orchestra Sinfonica A. Toscanini of Parma conducted by Marcello Rota and broadcasted by Raitre (Italy).
He has had a lot of commissions from many musicians and institutions in Italy and abroad, and
his works have been performed in several national and international Festivals in Italy and abroad, like Gioventù Musicale d’Italia, the Perugia International Harp Meeting, ppIANISSIMO International Festival, Sulle Ali del Novecento, Arcana Composers Meeting, Guggenheim Foundation of Venice, the Festival “Scintille di Musica”, The Concerts of Triennale di Milano. the festival “Novecento: i sentieri ritrovati e i nuovi percorsi”, Bergamo Musica Festival, International Festival of Contemporary Music “Nuovi Spazi Musicali” in Rome.
Since 2005 he is a member of the Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea (SIMC), Italian section of ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music). In the same year his piece TRIWATT has been selected by SIMC to take part to the ISCM International Festival “GRENZENLOS” in Stuttgart (Germany). In July 2007 his piece ANGELES Y DEMONIOS, written for Trio Contempo of Paris, has been published in a CD produced by the same Trio. In the same 2007 his melologue OPODELDOK has been recorded in a CD, produced by SIMC, which will be published in 2012.
In October 2011 one of his pieces for clarinet solo, FOR CLARINET 2, has been selected and performed by clarinet player Bruce Curlette in the Vox Novus Festival in New York City.
For the years 2011/2013 he has received commissions by SIMC, Isidoro Capitanio Symphonic Band of Brescia, Duo Novecembalo from Parma, the poet Alessandro Bottelli, the composer and conductor Federico Cumar, the flutist Stefania Maratti, the poet Paolo Truzzi, the flutist Luisa Sello, the pianist Emanuela Baronio, the trumpet player Aldo Epis, the cello player Marco Perini and the composer and artistic director Mauro Montalbetti.
He regularly cooperates with the musical magazine “Brescia Musica”, for which he has written articles on Iannis Xenakis, Steve Reich, Fats Waller, György Ligeti, Elliott Carter, Olivier Messiaen, Louis Andriessen, Milan Kundera, Gideon Klein, Igor’ Stravinskij.
His works are published by Sconfinarte Edition of Milan.
