Dmitry Lybin

Lybin, Dmitry (b. June 27, 1963, Minsk). Belorussian composer of orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal, piano, and organ works that have been performed in Europe.
D. Lybin studied musicology with Iosif Ryzhkin at the Gnessins Institute (Russian Academy of Music) in Moscow and composition with Dmitry Smolsky at the Belorussian Academy of Music in Minsk; postgraduate probation with Sergey Slonimski at N.Rimski-Korsakov Conservatory in St.-Petersburg and Stanislaw Skoczinski at F.Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw.
His music has been performed in Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, including at the ISCM World Music Days (1999, Bucharest/Chisinau).
He co-founded with others the Belorussian Society for Contemporary Music in 1990. He has served as its permanent secretary since 1991 and as its chairman in 2001-2006, then as secretary of Belarussian composers union (2007-2010).
