Nimrod Borenstein

Nimrod Borenstein has won several international composition competitions and his works are gaining a worldwide reputation with performances throughout Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S.A. His latest works for orchestra are receiving exceptionally enthusiastic reviews from the press and becoming part of the repertoire of many orchestras. The Shell Adagio was performed more than 30 times by 16 different orchestras during the past seasons and is now published by Boosey & Hawkes New-York. The Big Bang and Creation of the Universe, a large scale orchestral work in three movements, had its world premiere in May 2009 at the Sheldonian Theatre (Oxford) followed by the London premiere at Cadogan Hall in June 2009 and will tour the USA during the next season. Legendary pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy recently heard Nimrod's music for the first time and has given him his full support. Nimrod Borenstein (b.1969) holds postgraduate diplomas from the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music where he was a Leverhulme Trust Fellow and is now listed amongst the alumni as an illustrious past student. He is a Laureat of the Cziffra Foundation of France. Mr. Borenstein's success is also demonstrated by the fact that since 2007 he has had more than one dozen world premieres and commissions. Mr. Borenstein's publishers include Boosey & Hawkes (New York), Fatrock Ink (Los Angeles) and Alain Van Kerckhoven Éditeur (Belgium). ‘There are few great composers in any generation. And I believe that Nimrod is one of the great composers of our generation’ CAMDEN NEW JOURNAL, London ‘Nimrod Borenstein is a gifted young composer. His ‘Shell Adagio’ is beautifully melodic and extremely approachable. This rich work could easily become on of the staples of the modern orchestral string repertoire like the Barber Adagio.’ OXFORD TIMES ‘His music shows great depths of feeling, imagination and musicality. I am amazed at the breadth and intelligence shown in his compositions.’ PAUL PATTERSON, Manson Chair of Composition, Royal Academy of Music, London ‘For the past ten years I have edited for United Music Publishers a series of contemporary organ works featuring many distinguished composers - the quality of Borenstein’s work is amongst the best I have seen and subsequently published.’ DAVID TITTERINGTON Head of Organ Studies Royal Academy of Music, London
