Farangis Nurulla-Khoja is a Tajik-Swedish-Canadian composer was born 2nd of September, 1972 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) in the family of well-known Tajik composer, Ziyodullo Shahidi.
She holds a Diploma of Fine Arts in Composition (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). Having also studied at the University of California in San Diego as well as at IRCAM, Farangis lives by the criteria of the international life and follows the aesthetic language of contemporary music. A musician, she works with the conviction that dance is the complement of music, and that language - particularly the language of poets - is above all a series of communicative sounds. For her, making music is a journey into the unknown, a search for sounds unheard and forms unseen..
Farangis Nurulla-Khoja's compositions have been performed in concerts and on International festivals of Contemporary music in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Helsinki (Finland), Gothenburg,
Malmo, Vaxjo and Stockholm (Sweden), Leipzig, Freiburg, Berlin and Munich (Germany),Toulouse, Strasbourg, Roue, Grenoble, Royaumont, Montpelier and Paris (France), Osaka and Tokyo (Japan), Montreal, St-Irene (Canada), New-York, Baltimore, Washington, San Diego (USA), Shanghai (China).
She received the grand prize of the Abu Gazali Foundation in Salzburg (Austria) for her orchestra piece "Replica" in 2000. Joseph S.Stauffer Prize for the Arts, Canada Arts Council had awarded Farangis with a prize as a
best mid-carrier composer of 2008, winner of the III Magistralia Competition for Composers,
Spain, Farangis Nurulla-Khoja is a member of FST/STIM (Sweden).

In 2005-2006 Farangis Nurulla-Khoja was a composer in residence at the Foundation Royaumont working on the project Maqam et Creations (France) and in March-April 2010 she was a composer in residence at Bellagio Centre, Rockefeller Foundation where she started to work on her first chamber opera.
Presently working at experimentalstudio Freiburg.
