Mary Lou Newmark, electric violinist, composer, poet, holds Master’s degrees in both violin performance and music composition. She has received numerous awards as a performer and composer, including the 2009 Bettylou Scandling Hubin Award in Music Technology, 2004 Herb Alpert Foundation’s Alpert Award in the Arts for Music nomination, American Composers Forum Grant for her e-violin concerto, and residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. In 2006, her multimedia work concerning the homeless, “Street Angel Diaries” premiered in a new theatrical production at the Theater@Boston Court. Her music has been featured on radio stations throughout the United States and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Croatia and The Netherlands.
