Venezuelan composer dedicated also to college-level teaching, musicological research and performing. He studied in London (GCE O & A), Caracas (Composition, Yannis Ioannidis), Düsseldorf, (RSI, Diplom in Komposition), Kokrobitey, Ghana (percussion/dance, Mustapha Tettey Addy), and Washington, DC, (Catholic University of America - DMA in Composition). He has done field-research in Ghana, Trinidad and Venezuela. He performs the Guitar, Cuatro, Bandola Llanera and Afro-Latin percussion. Leads since 2005 the group Ozono Jazz producing “Ecological Music.” Co-founded and directed the Orchestra of Latin American Instruments ODILA, was Assistant Professor of Music at SUNY-Potsdam, NY, Guest Professor at the Institut für Musik und Musikpädagogik, Universität Potsdam, Germany, and was President of the Foundation of Ethnomusicology and Folklore, Caracas. Since 1998, he works as Professor of Music, Simón Bolívar University, Caracas, and is founding member and previous president of the Venezuelan Society for Contemporary Music and similarly, of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music-Venezuelan Chapter. Has been member of the Presidential Council of the International Society for Contemporary Music ISCM. Since 2007, he developed the visual-music project “AVIA – Visual Translation of Music”, USB/ZKM - Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe, Germany.
