Composer Anne Kilstofte has received awards and honors from the American Prize, ASCAP, the American Composers Forum, the Bush Artist Fellowship, the Jerome Foundation, several McKnight Fellowships, several Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowships, and a Fulbright Senior Scholarship where she researched and composed at the Academy of Music in Tallinn, Estonia.
She receives commissions from prominent national and international ensembles from Asia, Europe, and North America. Her work has been heralded for its exceptional variety of tone color and atmospheric display of light and sound and is best known for her works for voice. She received her Ph.D. in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota, studying with Pulitzer prize-winning composer Dominick Argento and independently with acclaimed composer, Libby Larsen.
