Alice Shields’ compositions are recorded on Koch International Classics, New World Records/CRI,Albany Records, and Tellus. Her opera Criseyde (2010), a feminist retelling of Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde, was performed in concert by the New York City Opera VOX festival. Her other operas include Apocalypse (New World Records), Mass for the Dead and Shaman (American Chamber Opera Co), and her instrumental works include The River of Memory (2008) and Mioritza - Requiem for Rachel Corrie (2004) for trombone and computer music for trombonist Monique Buzzarté, and Kyrielle (2008) for violin and computer music for violinist Airi Yoshioka. Shields is now writing a trilogy of minioperas about women, for concert performances, of which Komachi at Sekidera is the first.
